fuck the rhetoric

So you talk about stopping foreclosing homes and funding education but funded the war
So you talk about giving people jobs but loving nafta
So you talk about doing shit having solutions but uplifting yourself by degrading others
but you know what.

I don't believe you.
I don't believe in a process where white democratic leaders depend on
people of color living in a welfare state.

Fuck the rhetoric
Fuck the exit polls and voter segmentation
splicing us like polling pies into issue and identity
When you lift up that voter who votes at the end of the day are you going to implement
true policy? are you even going to return their phone call

Primaries made on people's dreams like commodified voting schemes,

Redefine our issues
and Reclaim our identities
Revolt this U.S. 2-Step, 2-Sided political dance.

At the end of the day..

how are you going to change the system without dehumanizing everyone around you?

cold hugs my core vulnerability..

a shiver shakes in my bones
it withers my skin making arms stretch out like
empty branches
they reach out for the sky
its a matter of time as i leave
my soul out to gush in the wind
a sound that doesn't exist because
no one is there to hear it...

a shiver shakes in my bones
and jolts at my joints
it's me trying to savor the last
bit of warmth that pumped passion
into my green veins
a passion on life support
insert the IV

it must be bad blood.

a proclamation to my liberation: (inspired by the spirit of paghahanap, pagtuklas, at pagbawi: search, discover and reclaim)

-I will meditate daily on the health of my self.
-I will reflect about the experiences of the people I serve and the connections they make to my own colonial mentaility.
-I will move forward and do my share of work.

free write 8-25-07

There.
A quick drive by East Biloxi
It's easy to say nothing is here because there is just nothing.
Behind empty foundations, concrete slabs, tilted mailboxes
there lies a displaced person, a family---
---relocated elsewhere, struggling to remember
---struggling to forget because daily they struggle because
they are told to struggle. they are told to not ask for help
to ask for help would be unAmerican these days.
a burden. welfare was so 1990s.
these folks are drowning in their silence
sponsored by state and media perceptions that they don't exist.
anything more would be liberal propoganda.

a huge Hurricane hoax.  Katrina never hit the Mississippi Gulf Coast
it never destroyed 65,000 homes.  it never caused 17,000 families to still live in FEMA trailers
it never caused people to wake up with burning eyes, wheezing lungs from formaldehyde.
it never happened
it never happened
America never cared
State government never cared to see them before,
Why now?
Local government want them out
We found a nice formula to expand tax bases without our communities

When fires burn in San Diego
we know there are stories not being told
there are people that will never hear
because America never cared.

I listened to a resident today, she lived in Poway and had her home washed away.
I could see the fear in her eyes not of the houses burning but just to know that lives displaced
might have to go through the same thing.
